What is T3?
T3 (Talent, Training, Temperament)
T3 is a three-dimensional trust model used in Web4 governance. Rather than reducing trust to a single score, T3 measures trust across three independent dimensions:
- Talent — Innate aptitude; decays slowly, as core capability tends to be stable over time.
- Training — Skill through practice; decays without use, so certifications and experience lose value without continued activity.
- Temperament — Reliability and consistency; recovers gradually through sustained good behavior, not self-declaration.
Trust in T3 is outcome-based — no entity can assert its own trust score. It is updated by recorded, witnessed outcomes. It is also role-contextual — your T3 as a code reviewer is entirely separate from your T3 as a database administrator, preventing halo effects and requiring trust to be earned in each specific context.
The model uses asymmetric decay: losing trust is faster than gaining it. One failure costs more than one success earns.
